Many people consider healthcare to be a privilege while others consider it a right. Health care should be a right; everyone should be entitled to proper healthcare and not be subject to being medically treated or not, based on their financial status.

Healthcare: A Right or a Privilege An Argument over National Healthcare in the United States There will always be a debate over what is considered fair healthcare in America. As long as there is no national healthcare system that is equal for everyone, there will be arguments over whether it is a right or a privilege.

There is an overwhelming disagreement about whether health care is a right, or a privilege for those who have worked hard enough to afford it. The United Nations long ago established health care as a human right, but the United States government has sided differently.

As the Declaration of Independence states that all citizens have “unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” and free healthcare shouldn’t be unaffordable for someone acquiring life and happiness. This right can and will improve public health.

Healthcare: A Privilege Health care in America is not a right. Health care is a product that can be purchased by an individual or by an employer for an employee. Most of the nonsensical labeling of it being a right is just another tactic to make the working tax paying citizens pay for those who cannot or will not provide for themselves.
